 HSS SP17 Intentional Songwriting Course: 7-8pm last class  INTENTIONAL SONGWRITING  Students will learn/employ techniques and exercises for generating coherent memorable hit song melodies, lyrics and tracks, and for capturing and crafting melody and lyric inspiration. Students will learn to turn those techniques into consistently engaging songs that express a single minded intention.   Students will learn how to generate arresting ‘out-of-the-box’ lyric ideas, and the importance of prosody (the effective marriage of lyrics and melody). Students will learn to write from a title, lyric, melody, emotion, a beat, bass line, or a chord pattern. Students will develop their lyricist's toolbox and learn how to write lyrics that are universal, real, and urgent. This course will also include in-depth analysis of hit songs.
